Summer Gaming
Here is the first-non anime related post, though there may be anime sneaking in here regardless >.> One of my goals this summer, among many, is to play through (or re-playthrough) a number of games.
I’ve recently gotten my hands on Race Driver: GriD for the PC and wow, just wow.

Amazing graphics, amazing feel to the game, and amazing little things that make the game that much better (For instance, you get to choose a name which the computer will use to talk to [in a sultry woman's voice] at various points, very cool). I understand its not a pure racing sim, and that actually makes me happy as I have never been a fan of too-realistic racing sims. Also, its not quite the mod-show that NFS Underground 2 or Carbon were, but that’s ok, because GriD has its own unique flair. Level of Playthrough Interest or LPI: A+
Three other games I want to play are related by subject matter. Star Wars: Republic Commando, Empire at War, and KotoR. Now I’ve played through KotoR back when it was the new kid on the block and absolutely loved it. Recently I got the itch again to play through it, and I knew I was hooked again after I installed it, created my character, told myself to save and quit, and ended up playing almost 4 hours ^_^. Republic Commando was a gem that I forgot about back in the day. I played through the demo and almost laughed myself out of my seat because of the amazing banter/dialogue between the clone troopers. Defintiely need to play that one through now that I have over-the-top system specs for it.

Lastly, Empire at War is an amazingly fun SW RTS especially in multiplayer. Good quick matches, lots of tactics, and not a lot of hum-drum slow building and waiting. Good for teams too. The single player is harder than balls though as one side (Rebellion or Empire) always seems to show up at the planet (system) that you have least guarded. Regardless, its a fun and challangeing game. Total LPI: A
Team Fortress 2, I realize, is not a single player game, but despite that, the new Pyro achievements are due to launch this Thursday so that will give regular players, like myself, more incentive to keep playing into the wee hours of the night. I already have all the other achievements thankfully (Yay friends) so I can just focus on getting all the Pyro ones.

Hopefully they’re not as flat out retarded as the Medic achievements were. Too many of the Medic achievements took the Medic right out of the game by forcing them to do something completely useless to the team in order to get an achievement. Hopefully that won’t be the case this time with the Pyro, though I know everyone is going to be farming those achievements early on. It won’t surprise me to see entire servers filled with hundreds of pyros, 2 medics, and a scout. Sigh. LPI: C+
Honorable Mentions:
Mass Effect – Played this already on the 360 and it is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. My desire to play it on the PC is there, but since I already have it on the 360, I will probably continue to enjoy it there.
Devil May Cry 4 – Again, yay 360. I may check it out on the PC to see if the graphics differ, but I think it will be staying on the 360.
Metal Gear Solid 4 – Don’t have a PS3 so this one is relegated to “later” status. I never did get around to playing 3 but from what I remember of 2 and what my MGS crazed friend has told me, expect a Lord of the Rings marathon to appear short in comparison with the movie watching in MGS4.
